Patina
A conservation studio. What you clean away, you cannot put back.
How restoration works
- Every painting arrives layered: varnish on top, then whatever happened to it over the years, then the original scene underneath everything.
- Hold anywhere on the canvas to work that patch. Each hold removes one layer, in one pass. There is no undo.
- Toggle raking light to feel how much still lies beneath a patch, without seeing what it is.
- Hang the painting whenever you decide it's done — early or late, whole or bare.
- The placard tells the truth: what you kept, what you lost, and what the museum thought of your restraint.

Hold a patch to clean it, one layer per pass. Raking light shows how much remains without telling you what it is.
